February 2016 page 15 FAQ Erratum In the January 2015 issue of CPT® Assistant (p 13), the Surgery: Musculoskeletal System FAQ regarding the coding of a peroneal tendon repair erroneously described the peroneal tendon as an extensor tendon, rather than a flexor tendon. Upon further review by our CPT Specialty Advisors, the peroneal tendons are considered "flexors" or evertors. Only the peroneus tertius tendon has "extensor" capability. Therefore, code 28200, Repair, tendon, flexor, foot; primary or secondary, without free graft, each tendon, should be reported for each tendon repair performed, as indicated in the code descriptor. ♦ FAQ Erratum...
