Implementation of New IDTF Performance Standards New performance and compliance standards that independent diagnostic testing facilities (IDTFs) must meet to enroll and maintain enrollment in the Medicare program were detailed in the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) Transmittal #216 issued on July 13, 2007. These new performance and compliance standards have been added to Chapter 10 of the Medicare Program Integrity Manual (MPIM). The guidelines that distinguish IDTFs from physician offices, however, have been removed from MPIM, Chapter 10, § 4.19.1 (a & b).
