Internet-Based Provider Enrollment, Chain, and Ownership System The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) issued Transmittal 271 to announce the implementation of the Internet-based Provider Enrollment, Chain, and Ownership System (PECOS). PECOS allows providers to submit their Medicare enrollment application, view and make changes to their enrollment file, and check the status of their application over the Internet.
