However, there is no separate code for complete vs limited/follow-up studies for transesophageal (93312-93315) and stress echocardiography (93350, 93351) services. When a transesophageal or stress echocardiogram echocardiography study does not evaluate all structures required for a complete transthoracic study, does the provider have to append modifier 52? Answer: Currently, the introductory language in the CPT codebook does not define required elements of transesophageal echocardiography...
