December 2021 page 11 Periurethral Balloon Continence Device Procedures For the Current Procedural Terminology (CPT®) 2022 code set, four new Category I codes (53451-53454) have been established to replace four deleted Category III codes (0548T-0551T) for reporting placement of a transperineal periurethral balloon continence device (ie, voiding prosthesis), urethral measurement, and removal of the device. This article provides an overview of the appropriate use of these new codes.
