October 2007 pages 1-6 Radiation Oncology: Stereotactic Radiosurgery and Stereotactic Body Radiation Therapy The Radiation Oncology subsection has been updated to include a new section titled Stereotactic Radiation Treatment Delivery that includes three new codes: 77371, 77372, and 77373. New code 77435 has been added also to the Radiation Treatment Management section. As a result of these updates, the following two CPT Category III codes and a HCPCS level II code previously used for stereotactic body radiation therapy and stereotactic radiosurgery have been deleted: 0082TStereotactic body radiation therapy, treatment delivery, one or more treatment areas, per day 0083TStereotactic body...

Article Overview
This article explains the October 2007 radiation oncology coding updates for stereotactic radiosurgery and stereotactic body radiation therapy. It is aimed at coders, billers, and radiation oncology staff who need to understand how the updated CPT and HCPCS guidance relates to treatment delivery, treatment management, planning services, and code replacements. The discussion covers the clinical context for stereotactic treatment, the distinction between cranial and body applications, and references to related planning and management coding considerations.
Why This Topic Matters
The update affects how stereotactic radiation services are recognized in coding workflows and how older codes were replaced or deleted. Understanding the scope helps readers identify whether the article applies to their radiation oncology billing and documentation processes.
