February 2014 page 9 Reporting Rigid and Transnasal Esophagoscopy Prior to Current Procedural Terminology (CPT®) 2014, codes 43200-43232 were reported to describe both transnasal and transoral esophagoscopy. A variety of these modalities have developed into well-recognized individual procedures with varied physician work, resulting in the need to establish new codes to distinguish between rigid transoral and flexible transnasal esophagoscopy.
