CLINICAL EXAMPLE 2 Retroperitoneal Ultrasound With Duplex Doppler CLINICAL HISTORY Abdominal pain. Suspicion for retroperitoneal mass. Rule out renal infarction. TECHNIQUE Multiplanar sonographic images of the retroperitoneal organs were obtained with grayscale, color, and spectral Doppler ultrasound. FINDINGS Kidneys: The left kidney measures 10 cm and the right kidney measures 11 cm. Both kidneys demonstrate normal cortical echogenicity, size, and corticomedullary differentiation without evidence of hydronephrosis, cysts, calculi, or masses.
