March 2002 page 10a Coding Consultation Surgery, Digestive System, 44300, 44015, 44201, 44310 (Q&A) Question My physician performs an open surgery to place a stomal tube into the jejunum for alimentary purposes. No other procedure is performed at the time. I am unsure as to which code to use for the placement of this jejunostomy tube, as this procedure is not performed during another surgery or via laparoscopy. Since there seems to be a number of codes that exist to identify placement of a tube for jejunostomy, what code should I use to report this procedure? AMA Comment...
