Code 27418, Anterior tibial tubercleplasty (eg, Maquet type procedure) may be reported with the Modifier 22, Increased procedural services. Modifier 22 is used to reflect the additional procedural work involved with the Fulkerson procedure, compared to the Maquet technique. While both procedures involve elevating the tubercle, the Maquet retains the distal part of the tubercle intact, which is then bent upward.
