Is it appropriate to give credit under the Data Category to a physician in the same group/same specialty for review and independent interpretation of an echocardiogram that is separately reported by another physician in the same group/same specialty? For example, a hospitalized patient has an echocardiogram on Tuesday and cardiologist A interprets and reports for the echocardiogram interpretation. Cardiologist B (in the same group/same specialty as cardiologist A) sees the patient on Wednesday and independently reads and interprets the echocardiogram as part of their E/M service. Can we give Cardiologist B credit for the independent interpretation under the Amount/Complexity of Data to be Reviewed and Analyzed?
