For code 76830 (transvaginal ultrasound), does the verbiage “adnexa” need to be in the report, or would any mention of the adnexal structures meet the requirement? Also, does evaluation of the adnexa require the physician to state the term adnexa, or is mention of the evaluation and measurement of any individual visible structure(s) within the adnexal region sufficient for documentation of the adnexa? In addition, because the ovaries are part of the adnexal region, is the expectation that the interpretation include mention of the ovaries, as well as something else supporting the adnexa?
