CPT codes 93303 and 93304 were developed to delineate the different services involved in assessing and performing echocardiography on infants and children with congenital cardiac anomalies. Are there exceptions to the list of congenital cardiac anomalies (ie, patent foramen ovale [PFO] or bicuspid aortic valve [BAV]) that should be considered when choosing code 93303 or 93304? Do all congenital anomalies substantiate the use of these codes?
