From a CPT coding perspective, if a high resolution polymerase chain reaction typing of the HLA A, B, and C loci are performed with typing results for each of the two alleles on the A, B, and C loci resulting in six typing results, is it appropriate to report CPT code 86812, HLA typing; A, B, or C (eg, A10, B7, B27) single antigen, or 86813, HLA typing: A, B, or C, multiple antigens?
