A laparoscopic appendectomy is done for an indicated purpose at the time of another major procedure (not as a separate procedure) to correspond to the open add-on code 44955. Is add-on code 44955 the correct code to report regardless of the method used in performing the major procedure (ie, open or laparoscopic)?
