A male patient was first referred to an outpatient sleep laboratory that is part of a group practice before he was seen by a physician in that same group practice. The patient then had a subsequent office visit to review the results of his sleep study with the physician. Would the office visit with the physician be reported as a new patient visit because the patient only saw the sleep technician at the sleep laboratory and not the physician?
