Occasionally, our physicians find it necessary to perform a complete noncontrast CT examination of the thorax at the time of a CT angiogram (eg, evaluation of an aortic intramural hematoma). In such situations, is it appropriate to report CPT code 71250, Computed tomography, thorax; without contrast material, in addition to CPT code 71275, Computed tomographic angiography, chest (noncoronary), with contrast material(s), including noncontrast images, if performed, and image postprocessing)?
