AMA Announces New CPT® Category I Codes for Vaccines
The American Medical Association (AMA) has introduced five new Category I CPT® codes and revised one existing code for vaccine reporting. These updates - covering RSV, COVID-19 (SARS-CoV-2), and influenza - were approved by the CPT® Editorial Panel for the 2026 code set and will go into effect July 1, 2025. What's New For CPT® purposes, "immunization" encompasses vaccines/toxoids, immune globulins, serum, or recombinant products.
