ICD-10 and Sports Medicine

For the past thirty-one (31) years, we have learned and used ICD-9-CM when assigning diagnosis codes for our providers. ICD stands for International Classification of Diseases and weve been using the 9th Revision to code a documented medical condition. The reason why we are moving to ICD-10 is because ICD-9 is old and many medical conditions do not have a code assigned to it because none are available.
