Opting Out of Medicare

It seems that more and more medical providers have chosen to opt out of Medicare and dis-enroll from PECOS. We are seeing this predominantly in the mental health and dental fields, which include psychiatrists, clinical psychologists, and clinical social workers, as well as oral surgeons. Some of the reasons, which are probably quite obvious, as these specialties do not want to be forced to use EMRs, have additional mandated reporting, are not a prime target for their practices to be purchased by hospitals, and definitely want to be reimbursed in full for their services.
