CCI 18.3 allows separate billing of G0289 for loose bodies but targets wound care

Orthopedic practices are rejoicing that changes to the National Correct Coding Initiative (CCI) mean that as of Oct. 1, they can again bill for removal of loose bodies (G0289) in the same knee but separate compartment from arthroscopic meniscectomy/chondroplasty (29880, 29881).
It’s one bright spot in a massive quarterly CCI update that adds almost 250,000 new code pairs.
