Inside CCI: Manual clarifies debridement, bilateral injection coding

 

In the annual update to coding policies behind its National Correct Coding Initiative (CCI), Medicare has added new rules on bilateral injections, debridement, and imaging during heart interventions. The manual changes (Version 17.3) were issued Dec. 1, 2011 and took effect for services on or after Jan. 1, 2012.
