Physician Tip Sheet: Tendon/muscle quick reference table

Because physicians may name the tendon, such as Achilles, and not the specific site and action such as lower leg flexor tendon, coders must become familiar with the muscles and tendons of the extremities and their action to assign the non-traumatic tendon rupture to the correct code. Consult this table to understand the functions of primary tendons and muscles to more easily select the appropriate code.
