E/M sections of proposed fee schedule spark demand for unified policies

CMS is receiving pushback on its plan to create three new prolonged services codes that would take effect Jan. 1. A review of comments submitted for the proposed 2023 Medicare physician fee schedule shows that health care stakeholders, ranging from specialty societies to individual coding consultants, have urged CMS to abandon its plan.
