Reader Question: Tread Carefully When Coding Follow-up Visits
Question: I read your article titled “Consider the Facts to Determine Fracture Care or a Possible E/M” in the Vol. 2, No. 6 issue and wondered if I can code a separate follow-up care with a fracture code?

Answer: Just because a fracture code may include follow-up care doesn’t mean that you won’t ever report a code for follow-up visits separate from a fracture code. Be sure to carefully look at the reason the patient presents for the visit.
