HCA Watch: GRASSLEY CONTINUES SCRUTINY OF HCA SETTLEMENT
Senate Finance Committee chair Chuck Grassley (R-IA) has written a fourth letter regarding the government's tentative $880 million settlement with hospital chain HCA Inc., which he says "has been crafted in the dark for apparently a fraction of the damages" HCA actually owes.
The concerns he expressed in earlier letters have been "largely ignored and brushed aside" by the Departments of Justice and Health and Human Services, Grassley contends in April 23 correspondence to Attorney General John Ash-croft and Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services Administrator Tom Scully.
