Following the swift departure of Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Tom Price after his over-the-top travel expenses were exposed in the media, President Trump nominated Alex Azar for the top federal health department post. Azar, an experienced health business operative, was the former HHS general counsel and deputy secretary under President George W. Bush. He also spent 10 years at Eli Lilly in various positions. The nominee is reportedly critical of the Affordable Care Act and favors converting Medicaid to block grants. Azar's confirmation hearings began on Nov. 30 in the U.S. Senate. ...
