Question: Which code should be used for foreign removal body from the vaginal canal?

Answer: If the physician used anesthesia (not local) to remove the foreign body, you may use code 57415 (Removal of impacted vaginal foreign body [separate procedure] under anesthesia [other than local]). In this procedure the provider can use forceps to remove a foreign body wedged into the vaginal wall while the patient is under anesthesia other than local. If no anesthesia was used you would assign the appropriate E/M code.
