In Volume 12, number 5 of the Insider, our reader question "Look to 11750 for Ingrown Toenail Removal" indicated that practices treating bilateral ingrown toenails should report 11750 (Excision of nail and nail matrix, partial or complete [e.g., ingrown or deformed nail], for permanent removal) for the first complete removal and 11750-50 (Bilateral procedure) for the second removal.Coding that way would actually constitute reporting the procedure three times. In reality, you would only have to report only 11750-50 once to show the payer you performed the procedure on both feet. ...
