New Cardiac Arrest Codes Coming In Latest ICD-9

In the fall, ED coders will have some new ICD-9 codes to get used to, as the 2008 version of ICD-9 will take effect on Oct. 1.ED coders: You-ll want to stay ahead of the curve, so take note of the following ICD-9 codes, slated to take effect this autumn:- 255.41--Glucocorticoid deficiency- 255.42--Mineralocorticoid deficiency- 288.66--Bandemia- 359.24--Drug-induced myotonia- 423.3--Cardiac tamponade- 449--Septic arterial embolism- 787.20--Dysphagia, unspecified- V12.53--Personal history of sudden cardiac arrest- V12.54--Personal history of transient ischemic attack (TIA), and cerebral infarction without residual deficits-  V17.41--Family history of sudden cardiac death...
