More New ICD-9 Codes

ICD-9 2005 introduces three new codes for venous embolisms, which offer more specificity than the current 453.8 (Other venous embolism and thrombosis; of other specified veins). Now you can choose among 453.40 (Venous embolism and thrombosis of unspecified deep vessels of lower extremity), 454.41 (Venous embolism and thrombosis of deep vessels of proximal lower extremity) or 454.42 (Venous embolism and thrombosis of deep vessels of distal lower extremity).  The update also includes a new code for obstructive chronic bronchitis with acute bronchitis, 491.22, which your physician may be diagnosing after chest X-rays or...
