Physicians don't like to talk about out-of-pocket costs If your doctor doesn't seem to be an ally in the fight to obtain copays from patients, you're not alone.   A study in the Aug. 20 Journal of the American Medical Association found that only 35 percent of physicians and 15 percent of patients reported ever having a doctor-patient discussion about the out-of-pocket costs of healthcare. By contrast, 63 percent of patients said they wanted to talk about these costs with their doctor, and 79 percent of physicians said they believed patients would like such a discussion, according to the...
