Reader Question: You Won't Find Laparoscopic A&P Repair Code

Question: Our gynecologist’s op note states, “Laparoscopic Uterosacral suspension, A&P repair w/culdoplasty. Mini Arc mid urethral sling and cystourethroscopy & removal of right vulvar lesion.” I am looking at 57425; 51990. Are those codes correct? Answer: There is no such thing as a laparoscopic A&P repair – by definition of what is being done. The physician is repairing the anterior and posterior vaginal walls, which can only be accomplished from the outside in.
