Changes to CPT EEG codes

Effective January 1, 2020, the CPT Editorial Panel deleted four existing long-term EEG monitoring services, specifically, CPT codes 95950, 95951, 95953, and 95956, and replaced them with 23 new CPT codes as listed below: Deleted Codes: Deleted CPT Code Long Descriptor Effective Date 95950 Monitoring for identification and lateralization of cerebral seizure focus, electroencephalographic (eg, 8 channel EEG) recording and interpretation, each 24 hours January 1, 2020 95951 Monitoring for localization of cerebral seizure focus by cable or radio, 16 or more channel telemetry, combined electroencephalographic (EEG) and video recording and interpretation (eg, for presurgical localization), each 24 hours...
