CMS reactivates C-codes for device categories

According to the November 7, 2003, Final Rule, published by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), C codes for device categories as they existed on December 31, 2002, will be reinstituted. The decision was made by CMS last year to eliminate 95 C-codes or device categories. This instruction was published in the November 1, 2002, Final Rule. These C-codes were eliminated because they were no longer eligible for transitional pass-through payments in 2003.
