Correction: debridement of open fractures

Coding Clinic for HCPCS First Quarter 2015, Page 3, published advice stating that codes in CPT code range 11010-11012, for debridement of fractures, may be assigned when extensive debridement is performed for treatment of either open or closed fractures.Coding Clinic for HCPCS Fourth Quarter 2015, Page 7, published a clarification of the advice in First Quarter 2015, indicating that codes in range 11010-11012 may only be assigned for the extensive debridement of fractures and dislocations that are open and not for closed fractures/dislocations. However, Coding Clinic for HCPCS First Quarter 2018, Page 6 reiterated the rescinded advice from First Quarter 2015 and again advised that fracture debridement codes may be assigned for treatment of open or closed fractures. Can you please provide clarity on the application of CPT code range 11010-11012, for debridement of fractures and whether they should be applied to open or closed fractures? ...
