Coding Clinic for HCPCS First Quarter 2019, Page 5, stated the Stimwave neurostimulator receiver was external and therefore not reported separately from the insertion of the electrode array. Coding Clinic for HCPCS Third Quarter, 2019 stated the Stimwave neurostimulator system had been previously identified incorrectly clarifying the receiver is implanted and therefore, not external. However, the coding advice for the scenario in First Quarter did not change. Would not the implantation of an internal receiver as opposed to an external receiver alter the code assignment(s)? ...
