Future changes to the UB-92 data set
BY GEORGE ARGESSENIOR DIRECTOR & CHAIRMAN, NUBC AMERICAN HOSPITAL ASSOCIATION HEALTH DATA MANAGEMENT GROUP The National Uniform Billing Committee (NUBC) created a single billing form and data set standard for nationwide use by institutional providers and payers in 1982. The NUBC includes participation from all the major national provider and payer organizations. The NUBC plays an important consultative role with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) of 1996 in helping to define the data content associated with each of the electronic transactions standards mentioned in the legislation.
