New device pass-through codes
Two new device pass-through categories have been created as of January 1, 2007. HCPCS codes C1821, Interspinous process distraction device (implantable), and L8690*, Auditory osseointegrated device, includes all internal and external components, were created to report the devices described in their respective code descriptors.
*The information regarding HCPCS code L8690 is being provided for informational purposes only. Through the memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), the Central Office on HCPCS does not provide coding advice for HCPCS L codes.
