On reassessment of the advice published in Coding Clinic for HCPCS, Third Quarter 2002, page 10 regarding the appropriate coding of an esophagoduodenoscopy with Stretta procedure, it was determined HCPCS code C9701, Stretta system, is the appropriate code for an esophagoduodenoscopy with Stretta procedure. HCPCS code C9701 has a “T” status indicator, which identifies this as a significant procedure that is paid under the outpatient prospective payment system (OPPS).
