In the Second Quarter 2019 issue of Coding Clinic for HCPCS, Page 14, a clarification was published pertaining to an issue originally appearing in the Fourth Quarter 2017 issue, Pages 4-5, regarding code assignment for an arthroscopic subchondroplasty with an injection of calcium phosphate cement performed on a patient with tibial plateau insufficiency fractures.Since that time, the American Medical Association (AMA) has published updated advice in the November 2019 issue of CPT Assistant instructing that when calcium phosphate is injected to treat a tibial plateau insufficiency fracture, the correct code assignment is CPT code 29999, Unlisted procedure, arthroscopy...
