Bilateral Chronic and Subsegmental Pulmonary Embolism

The patient was diagnosed with chronic bilateral subsegmental pulmonary emboli (PE). In the Alphabetic Index under Embolism, pulmonary, there are separate subentries at the same indentation level for chronic and multiple subsegmental. Coding Clinic Fourth Quarter 2019, page 7, appears to imply that it is more important to capture that the emboli are subsegmental as this is important clinical information.
