In ICD-10-CM’s Tabular List, Chapter 15, Pregnancy, childbirth and the puerperium (O00-O9A), there is an instructional note that states “Use additional code from category Z3A, Weeks of gestation, to identify the specific week of the pregnancy.” This note applies to all of the codes in the obstetric chapter. However, this information may not be documented or relevant in cases of molar pregnancy or trophoblastic disease, since these are not viable pregnancies, and it is not possible for a normal baby to form.
