Two new codes have been created: K86.81, Exocrine pancreatic insufficiency, and K86.89, Other specified diseases of pancreas. Exocrine pancreatic insufficiency (EPI) (K86.81) refers to the inability to digest food properly due to a lack of exocrine pancreatic digestive enzymes. Chronic pancreatitis is the most common cause of EPI.
