Codes in subcategories O00.1, Tubal pregnancy and O00.2, Ovarian pregnancy, have been expanded to include laterality. These new codes describe right and left tubal and ovarian pregnancies. This information is important to track, since patients who have had an ectopic pregnancy are more likely to have a subsequent ectopic pregnancy. From a clinical perspective, it is important to know whether an ectopic pregnancy occurred on the right or left side.
