Withdrawal Syndrome in Substance Use and Abuse

Codes were created for withdrawal in psychoactive substance use and abuse, which can cause physiological addiction and have potential for development of withdrawal syndrome when a person reduces or ceases use of the substance.The new codes identify withdrawal for the substances and patterns of use noted below:Opioid abuse with withdrawal (F11.13) Cannabis abuse with withdrawal (F12.13) Cocaine abuse, unspecified with withdrawal (F14.13) Cocaine use, unspecified with withdrawal (F14.93) Other stimulant abuse with withdrawal (F15.13) In addition, new codes identify uncomplicated withdrawal, withdrawal delirium, withdrawal with perceptual disturbance and unspecified withdrawal for the substances...
