To help clarify, the Musculoskeletal System section guidelines state that the services include only the application and removal of a first cast or traction device. The subsequent replacement of a cast and/or traction device may require an additional listing using the 29000-29799 series of codes. Before 1996, the Application of Casts and Strapping section guidelines stated that the procedures listed applied only when the cast application or strapping was a replacement procedure...
