Clarification of Antepartum Care Codes (Fall 1994)

Fall 1994 pages 21-23 Clarification of Antepartum Care Codes Codes 59425 and 59426 were added to CPT 1994 to use to report antepartum care when the global codes (eg, 59400, 59510) are not reported. Global codes are reported when antepartum care, delivery and postpartum care are all provided by the same physician (solo practice) or same physician group (group practice). (For 1-3 antepartum care visits, see appropriate E/M code(s)) 59425Antepartum care only; 4-6 visits 594267 or more visits Occasionally, pregnancy is terminated by miscarriage (abortion) and the physician does not perform the global service traditionally associated with maternity' care...
