December 2022 pages 8-9 Laparoscopic Simple Prostatectomy For 2023, Current Procedural Terminology (CPT®) code 55867 has been established to report laparoscopic simple prostatectomy. Previously, laparoscopic simple prostatectomy was reported using unlisted codes, although there are existing codes to report open simple subtotal prostatectomy (55821, 55831), open radical prostatectomy (55840, 55842, and 55845), and laparoscopic radical prostatectomy (55866). A parenthetical note has been added after the new code to instruct users to report codes 55821 and 55831 for open subtotal prostatectomy.
