AMA Comment No. Modifier '-51,' Multiple procedures, is generally not reported with the 70000 series codes. The use of the multiple procedure modifier '-51' in the 70000 series of codes is applied only to the nuclear medicine codes 78306, 78320, 78802, 78803, 78806, and 78807. Therefore, it would not be appropriate to append modifier '-51' to code 76075, Dual energy x-ray absorptiometry (DEXA), bone density study, one or more sites; axial skeleton (eg, hips, pelvis, spine)...
